Major elements were determined by X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF) using a Siemens SRS-3000 instrument in the Laboratorio Universitario de Geoquímica Isotópica (LUGIS), UNAM, using procedures of Lozano and Bernal (2005). Trace element concentrations were determined using Thermo Scientific Electron X-series ICP-MS (Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer) at the Centro de Geociencias (CGEO), UNAM-Querétaro, following sample preparation and measurement procedures described by Mori et al., (2007; doi:10.1016/j.chemgeo.2007.07.002). Nd isotopes were measured at LDEO using VG-Sector 54 TIMS. Purified Nd was loaded on Re filaments and Nd isotopes were measured by dynamic multicollection as NdO+. 143Nd/144Nd ratios are normalized to 146Nd/144Nd = 0.7219. Unknowns are normalized to La Jolla value of 143Nd/144Nd = 0.511860 ± 19 (2 sigma external SD during the entire study period, n = 177). International standard JNdi-1 yielded 143Nd/144Nd = 0.512110 ± 19 (n = 5), which is comparable to the published value of 0.512117 ± 7 (Tanaka et al., 2000, doi:10.1016/S0009-2541(00)00198-4). Hf isotope ratios were measured at LDEO using multi-collector ICPMS. 176Hf/177Hf are normalized to 179Hf/177Hf = 0.7325. Instrumental drift was monitored by repeated measurements of a Johnson-Matthey Hf elemental standard with the same 176Hf/177Hf ratio as the JMC-475 standard. Unknowns are normalized to the JMC-475 value of 176Hf/177Hf = 0.282160 (Vervoort and Blichert-Toft, 1999; doi:10.1016/S0009-2541(00)00198-4). 2 sigma external SD during measurement sessions are below 0.000012 (n = 10). The average measured 176Hf/177Hf values for BHVO-1 is 0.283107 ± 20 (n = 14) and for BCR-1 is 0.282876 ± 13 (n = 5), which agree with the recommended values from Weis et al. (2007, doi:10.1029/2006GC001473), which reported BHVO-1 of 0.283106 ± 12 (n = 7); BCR-1 of 0.282875 ± 8 (n = 5).
