Bioremediation of oil-contaminated sandy beaches

This work investigates the effect of salinity, moisture content, and nutrient limitation on the microbial degradation of petroleum hydrocarbons in sandy beaches contaminated with crude oil. This study would benefit oil spill responders and decision makers to biologically remediate oiled sandy beaches more efficiently, specifically above the intertidal zone where the biodegradation of petroleum hydrocarbons drastically slows down due to various environmental stressors.
