whole genome sequencing of VRE

Vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE) have become a significant cause of healthcare-associated infections. We performed whole-genome sequencing (WGS) of stored VRE strains at our hospital and assessed its potential utility as an alternative to pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) for infection control.
