In the framework of the VICI funded project “Exploiting the Empire of Others: Dutch Investment in Foreign Colonial Resources, 1570-1800” at Leiden University, this dataset has assembled data on trade between The Netherlands and West and East Africa between 1847 and 1918, as well as the major commodities coming from Africa.
