This dataset compiles key parameters of seismites (earthquake-induced deposits) identified in the ICDP 5017-1 sediment core from the central Dead Sea, synthesized with associated environmental preconditioning data. For each seismogenic event (from 31 BCE to 1956 CE), it provides the mean seismic intensity (Modified Mercalli Intensity, MMI), seismite thickness, deposit type (Slump, Turbidite, or Homogeneous mud), interevent time, and—critically—the rate of water-level change and water-level status (steady vs. fluctuating) that preceded the event. This integrated dataset is specifically designed to investigate how preconditioning conditions, particularly water-level changes, modulate the sedimentary expression of seismic shaking. It offers a unique opportunity to test the relationship between earthquake intensity and mass failure scale under different preconditioning scenarios, and serves as a key resource for improving the interpretation of paleoseismic archives in the Dead Sea region and analogous tectonic settings.
