Climate Classifications from CGMs and CRU data

DOI

Systematic global climate classifications using Köppen, Köppen-Trewartha and K-Means algorithms for 47 Global Climate Models (GCMs) and the CRU database, and for present-climate and three global warming scenarios: RCP26, RCP45 and RCP85. The data is stored as plain binary (size float, 4 bytes) for the actual classifications and for the coordinates of each model grid. A fortran sample program is provided to read the data and output the classes as plain text. BIL stands for “bit interleaved by line”. It is an uncompressed format. Just a raster, plain binary file that can be used in any platform. It is one of the simplest and more transparent formats and it is widely used by the geographical information system (GIS) and remote sensing communities.
