The dataset contains post-processed model output of idealized baroclinic life cycle simulations performed with the atmospheric component of the Icosahedral Nonhydrostatic model (ICON-NWP; version 2.6.2.2). There are 12 experiments with 6 different initial climatic conditions: (1) present day (CTL); (2) uniform +4 K warming & moistening (4K); (3) uniform +4K warming but not moistening (4K_qvCTL); (4) non-uniform warming and moistening as anticipated by a CMIP6 model for the end of the 21st century under the high-emissions scenario SSP5-8.5 (Tanom); (5) tropical warming&moistening (Tanom_tropics); (6) polar warming&moistening (Tanom_polar), each performed with 2 different model grid spacing (80 km and 2.5 km).

The data is organized into 3 subdirectories: (1) input_data (initial conditions set for the simulations); (2) remapped_simulation_output (post-processed model output data; re-gridded from the unstructured native model grid to the regular lat-lon grid; only for selected variables); (3) PTE_results (results created during the analysis of pressure tendency equation (PTE), such as cyclone tracks, maps for the distribution of each PTE components, and their time series averaged around the cyclone center).
