Among all members of the frustrated family of SrRE2O4 (RE = Gd-Tm) compounds, SrGd2O4 is the only one displaying the clear signatures of long-rang antiferromagnetic (AFM) orders from our heat-capacity measurements. The magnetic transition temperatures of SrGd2O4 are at TN = 0.8 and 2.93 K. The SrGd2O4 single crystal to be measured has been cut in the ab and ac crystallographic scattering planes and comprehensively characterized by PPMS/SQUID. Here we propose a hot-neutron diffraction study at D9 to solve the undetermined magnetic structures of SrGd2O4. The data will be collected at 400 mK, 1.5 K, and 20 K. We request 6 days for expected results. This first study of the magnetic structures of SrGd2O4 will shed light on the nature of the frustration in the SrRE2O4 system.
