Overdoped manganites were recently shown to exhibit stripe-like ordering of charges orbitals and magnetic moments. The magnetic excitations in these materials show close similarity with the hourglass dispersion observed in various cuprates similar to the recent observation in a layered cobaltate. We propose to study the high-energy part of the magnetic dispersion in overdoped manganites on the MAPS spectrometer. The high-energy magnons are essential to establish the magnetic interaction parameters and thereby will unambiguously determine the orbital arrangement in these phases. In addition we hope to get insight into the magnetic excitations of effectively decoupled stripes.
