Phase separation and dewetting of dPS/PVME thin films by specular and off-specular reflectivity

DOI

We will perform time resolved TOF-reflectivity measurements on deuterated polystyrene (PS) and poly(vinyl methyl ether) (PVME) thin blend films, which has a LCST type phase diagram, in two-phase region. The aim of the experiments is to examine the phase separation at the off-critical fraction and the effects on the dewetting. The time evolution of specular and out-of-plane off-specular reflectiveities will be analyzed to evaluate the kinetics of the phase separation and the dewtting in the film films. Finally we will discuss which proposed dewetting mechanism is appropriate for the dPS/PVME thin films, the composition fluctuation mechanism or the capillary wave fluctuation mechanism.
