Paramagnons and short-range magnetic correlations in EuTiO3?

DOI

We propose to study low-energy dynamics of EuTiO3 near the structural phase transition temperature Tc = 282 K. Due to short-range magnetic correlations, a paramagnon should appear in the spectra below 12 meV. The existence of the paramagnon (and its coupling to optical phonons) was predicted as a consequence of the anomaly of magnetic susceptibility near Tc and of the shift of Tc with magnetic field. Confirmation of such a phenomenon would be very interesting as the antiferromagnetic phase transition (TN = 5.3 K) is relatively far from Tc.
