Replication Data for: Task-specific experience, tacit knowledge, and compensation contracts

DOI

Replication package for the main experiments and additional experiments. Building on experiential learning theory, we predict that managers who acquire task-specific experience by doing the employee’s task possess tacit knowledge about the task’s cognitive stimulation and associated intrinsic motivation. To motivate their employees, these managers will prefer a fixed-wage contract, which relies on intrinsic motivation, over a performance-based contract.

Data files: data files and the Stata code files. The first data and the first Stata do file contain data and code for our main experiment and the additional experiment 3; the second data and the second Stata do file for the additional experiment 1 and 2, and the third data and third Stata do file for employees. Supplemental material: Data files Structure data package: Separate files for each of the experiments
