Brain transcriptome of Oreochromis niloticus

The purpose of the study was to evaluate, with RNA-Seq technology, the effect of two sources of vegetable oil on global transcription in the brain of male and female tilapia, to integrate the environment-genetics-nutrition triad in the transduction of neuronal signals that modulate metabolism.

The results present an overview of the transcriptional response and possible understanding of the link between nutrition, mainly polyunsaturated fatty acids, and gene expression in tilapia brain tissue and highlight the need for further studies incorporating analysis of other tissues to understand the relationship between nutrition, production, reproduction and chronodisruption.
