We have recently discovered a new family of geometric frustrated magnets starting from the parent system, RbFe2F6, with crystallizes in the defect or β-pyrochlore structure and contains chains of orthogonal Fe2+ and Fe3+ chains. Diffuse scattering is present below room temperature and increases until it gives way to long ranged magnetic order below 15 K. The RbFe2F6 systems offers a number of new opportunities in the understanding of geometrically frustrated systems. We propose to map out the Rb1-xFe2F6 phase diagram to understand the balance between charge ordering and geometric frustration with composition and temperature.
