Olfactory epithelium transcriptomes of the Nycticorax nycticorax and Egretta garzetta

To understand the expression leves of the olfactory receptor genes, We sequenced transcriptomes of 12 olfactory epithelium samples of the Nycticorax nycticorax and Egretta garzetta. Overall design: We sequenced transcriptomes of 12 olfactory epithelium samples of the Nycticorax nycticorax and Egretta garzetta. The nestling BC-Night Heron group included 3 individuals whose body length were less than 15cm, with brown mottled feather and olfactory bulbs were not developed. The adult group included another three individuals whose body length were more than 40cm, with the metallic green-black feather, and olfactory bulbs developed to reach the normal adult heron size (4.1 mm)(Cobb 1968). For Six Little Egrets individuals, the nestling Little Egret group included 3 individuals whose body length were less than 15cm and olfactory bulbs were not developed. The adult Little Egret group included another three individuals whose body length were more than 50cm and olfactory bulbs developed to reach the normal size.
