Transcriptomic response of the harmful algae Heterosigma akashiwo to polyphosphate utilization and phosphate stress

Polyphosphate (polyP) is widely present and play an important role in aquatic environments, but whether and how this polymer can be utilized by phytoplankton is poorly understood. In this study, we used the RNA-Seq to examine the shift of key metabolic processes involved in responding to polyP utilization and P-deficient in distributed harmful algal bloom species, Heterosigma akashiwo.
