Regulation of gliotoxin biosynthesis and self protection in Aspergillus fungi

Production of gliotoxin by A. nidulans and A. fumigatus is a critical role in the pathobiology of Aspergillus. It modulates the immune response and induces apoptosis in different cell types. Using mutants strains, we investigated the biosynthetic pathway of gliotoxin and its role in virulence.
