Commissioning of the prototype of micro-tomography camera and optical check of the Camera 2

DOI

Aim of this proposal is that of exploring the possibility of developing a high resolution camera for micro.tomography to be adopted at IMAT. A cheap camera box has been built which adopts the available 50 mm Nikon lens . A cooled CMOS camera for astronomy has been adopted as the detector. The camera has been already optically tested and the effective resolution (pixel limited) turned out to be 10 microns. Several images will be aquired, using different test masks and scintillators of different thicknes. Besides the maximum resolution, the data will allow to determine the MTF over the whole field of view in order to understand if the large optical aperture of the lens reflects in a loss of image quality approaching the borders.Taking into account for the set-up time and the aquisition of several images under different conditions, three days of experimental beam are required.
