Genome sequencing of nine clownfish species and damselfish Pomacentrus moluccensis

The goal of the project is to acquire the genomic resources for nine different clownfish species (Premnas biaculeatus, Amphiprion ocellaris, A. melanopus, A. bicinctus, A. nigripes, A. sebae, A. polymnus, A. akallopisos, A. perideraion) and a closely-related outgroup species (Pomacentrus moluccensis). The availability of genomic resources for clownfish species is valuable for the advancing of studies of the particular life-history traits of clownfishes, and it opens the way to comparative genomics. Indeed, genomic comparison among closely related fishes provides means to identify genes related to the unique adaptations to the sea anemone hosts.
