Abstract copyright UK Data Service and data collection copyright owner.

Prior to the introduction of the national censuses, listings of individuals were drawn up for some communities. One such listing, dated 2nd June 1701, exists for Stoke-upon-Trent. This dataset represents a computer readable version of the listing with each individuals' details typed into nine separate fields. The original document is written in a mixture of English and abbreviated Latin. To simplify the transcription and to make it easier to read, all such entries have been translated into English.

Main Topics:

Name; age; relationship to head; legitimacy; marital status; some occupations; households; liberty.

No sampling (total universe)
