Prior to the introduction of the national censuses, listings of individuals were drawn up for some communities. One such listing, dated 2nd June 1701, exists for Stoke-upon-Trent. This dataset represents a computer readable version of the listing with each individuals' details typed into nine separate fields. The original document is written in a mixture of English and abbreviated Latin. To simplify the transcription and to make it easier to read, all such entries have been translated into English.
