The purpose of this study was to measure emigration and migration from Scotland between 1861 and 1911.

The variables are: census year; county-of-birth; county-of-residence; age (under or over 20); gender. The data are provided in registration county units, converted to civil county units, standardised to 1891 pre or post county boundary revision. Please note: this study does not include information on named individuals and would therefore not be useful for personal family history research.
