The dataset contains 260 snow penetration force profiles collected along three transects in Kuup Ilua (Blæsedalen) on Qeqertarsuaq (Disko Island)], Kalaallit Nunaat (Greenland), during a field campaign from April 9 to 15, 2024, as part of the MOMENT project - Permafrost Research Towards Integrated Observation and Modelling of the Methane Budget of Ecosystems. The snow penetration force profiles were measured with a high-resolution electronic snow penetrometer (SnowMicroPen). The position estimates of the SMP were improved using an Emlid GNSS system. The system consisted of an RS2+ operated as a base station and a Reach M+ connected to the SMP as a rover, improving position estimates from 2-3 m to cm-level accuracy. The dataset contains the raw data output by the SMP in .PNT format. Some profiles have been merged when ice layers were encountered and the SMP was forced to conduct multiple measurements at the same location. The snow penetration resistance profiles can be used to estimate snow density and specific surface area. For details, see the accompanying metadata document.
