Replication Data for: Nutrient composition of fresh produce—Assessing variability between European countries to substantiate nutrition and health claims

DOI

National Food Composition Databases (FCDBs) are the main and most widely available source of nutrient information for unpacked foods, such as fruits and vegetables. This dataset presents the nutrient content in fresh fruits and vegetables from FCDBs, both in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine and in the top eight European producers. Moreover, presents the absolute and practical differences on light of nutrition and health claims requirements under the European legislation.

Original, not curated data are not included as the managers of those data are national agencies and ministries. We advise end users to use this dataset as a sanity check for their produce, and not a final decision tool to apply claims. N.B.: sodium data are calculated for low in and very low in claims.
