Magnetic interactions in honeycomb iridates Na2IrO3

DOI

We propose to study the magnetic excitation spectrum of Na2IrO3 with inelastic neutron scattering. Na2IrO3 is a promising candidate to realize Kitaev interaction. By mapping out the whole magnetic dispersion of Na2IrO3, we can quantitatively extract the Kitaev coupling in this system and have a better understanding of the novel physics in iridates. The high flux of MERLIN spectrometer and its new repetition rate multiplication chopper make it an ideal choice of our proposed measurement.
