Major element concentration measured on the gravity core GeoB25818-2 core and on the MUC cores sampling in the active Southern Lobe of the Bengal Fan. These cores were recovered during the SO304 cruise (Feb - April 2024) with the main objective to better understand the sediment dynamics of the active depositional final sink of sediments of the Bengal Fan. Major element concentration were measured on the coarse and fine-grained fraction using inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES). Samples were dried and grounded before to underake (1) a triple-washing process with deionized water to remove sea salt and (2) a double acetic acid leaching with a weak acid to eliminates carbonates. More details about the sampling preparation steps can be find in Tachambalath et al. (2023, doi:10.14379/iodp.proc.354.204.2023). Major element concentration were measured in order to obtain and compare element ratio with river sediment samples to constrain the sediment provenance.
