Upwelling dynamics affect the microbial community distribution in the water column off the Oregon Coast

Understanding how physico-chemical and environmental factors shape the distribution and function of microbial communities is critical for understanding the ocean's biogeochemical cycles. To better understand how upwelling dynamics affect microbial communities through the entire water column (from 5 to 5000 m depth), samples for metagenomic analyses and environmental parameters were collected in a longitudinal transect from the coast to the open ocean.
