This dataset provides a global morphometric characterisation of 24 modern (non-buried) asymmetric submarine channels from 15 locations worldwide. Morphometric measurements were performed on bathymetric maps automatically using Python script to support consistency. For each channel, multiple cross-sections were extracted along the thalweg, and a suite of parameters was calculated for each cross-section, including: width, left and right widths, width symmetry, relief, left and right margin relief, relief symmetry, water depth, slope along the thalweg, sinuosity, local sinuosity, straight length of channel, length along thalweg, relief-to-width ratio (R/W), latitude, and slope angles of channel margins. The dataset also documents the sources and resolution of bathymetric data used in the calculations, ensuring transparency and reproducibility. This dataset provides a basis for global comparative analyses of channel asymmetry, supports evaluation of processes shaping deep-sea channel evolution, and offers reference data for modelling sediment transport and channel development. This compilation aims to support geomorphic, sedimentological, and marine geoscience research by providing the first coordinated global dataset of asymmetry metrics for submarine channels.
