Microbial communities present in constructed wetlands microcosms used to remove veterinary antibiotics from livestock wastewater.

The main objective of this study was to evaluate the potential of constructed wetlands (CWs), at microcosm level, for the bioremediation of pharmaceuticals, namely veterinary antibiotics (enrofloxacin (ENR) and ceftiofur (CEF)), individually or in mixture, present in livestock wastewater. The response of the microorganisms present in CWs microcosms to the presence of veterinary antibiotics was evaluated both in terms of community structure and contaminants removal performance.
