This dataset features detrital neodymium (Nd) and authigenic lead (Pb) isotopic compositions from ODP Site 689, Maud Rise (64.5°S, 3.1°E, 2080 m water depth) spanning the late Oligocene (26.2 to 25.2 Ma). The age model was established following the magnetostratigraphic constraints of Florindo and Roberts (2005, doi:10.1130/B25541.1) and tuned to the age model of IODP Site 342-U1406 (van Peer et al., 2024, doi:10.1038/s41467-024-54186-1). Nd was isolated from the detrital fraction of the sediment via column chromatography using 50W-X8 and LN-Spec resins. Nd concentrations were measured by Thermo Scientific iCAP Triple Quadrupole Inductively Coupled Mass Spectrometry (TQ-ICP-MS) at the University of Heidelberg. Isotopic compositions (eNd) were analysed on a Thermo Scientific Neptune Plus Multi-Collector-ICP-MS at GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research, Kiel. Isotopic data, expressed as eNd (eNd =[(143Nd/144Nd)/0.512638–1] x 10,000), were normalised to a 143Nd/144Nd value of 0.512115 for the JNdi-1 standard. Pb was isolated from the authigenic and (selected) detrital fractions of the sediment by ion-chromatography using AG1-X8 resin. Elemental concentrations were also measured by TQ-ICP-MS at the University of Heidelberg and isotopic compositions on a Thermo Scientific Neptune Plus MC-ICP-MS at GEOMAR Kiel.
