Sediment echosounder (Teledyne Parasound P70 echosounder) data are generally retrieved to get information on the characteristics of the upper tens of meters of the sub-seafloor. Raw primary high frequency (PHF) and secondary low frequency (SLF) echo sounding data were retrieved during POLARSTERN cruise PS140 (EASI-2) and are archived here in ASD and PS3 format. During POLARSTERN cruise PS140, Parasound data formed the basis for determination of appropriate coring locations. The entire dataset of cruise PS140 is archived here, including data from international waters off South Africa to off Australia, with special emphasis on three key locations: A Western Indian Ocean Transect, Prydz Bay, and an Eastern Indian Ocean Transect.
