A new family of FeAs superconductors have very recently (Autumn 2008) been discovered in which, rather than alternating rare earth oxide layers with FeAs layers (as for the new superconductors discovered in early 2008), XF layers are used to alternate with the FeAs layers. This provides a new family of superconductors and gives the possibility of localising the muon by interaction with fluorine (and maybe also producing a characteristic signature F-mu-F state). Our principal aim is to characterise the superconducting state in the doped compoundsusing TF-muSR, extracting information concerning the superfluid stiffness. Secondary aims include searching for magnetism near the border between superconductivity and magnetism and characterising the magnetism in the parent materials.
