This dataset includes around 500 beef samples collected from 55 finishing farms across five European Countries and representing diverse production systems. UV‑Vis and NIR spectra were acquired using three spectrometers: two portable devices - FlameNIR and IndiGo - readings made on intact samples (IM), and one benchtop instrument - NIRS™ DS2500 - readings made on ground meat samples (GM). Data are reported as absorbance, expressed as log10(1/Reflectance), recorded in function of the wavelenghts.
The dataset includes 5 Excel sheets:
1. DS2500: spectral data collected with the Vis/NIR benchtop device - NIRS™ DS2500 by Foss Analytical, Hillerød, Denmark. Spectral range: 400 - 2498 nm; spectral resolution: 2 nm.
2. FlameNIR: spectral data collected with the portable NIR device - FlameNIR by OceanOptics, Inc., Dunedin, USA. Spectral range: 935.4 - 1664.8 nm; spectral resolution: 5-6 nm.
3. IndiGo: spectral data collected with the portable Uv/Vis device - IndiGo from Goyalab, France. Spectral range: 460 - 700 nm; spectral resolution: 0.5 nm.
4. Classes: correspondence between farm ID and intensification classes identified in the paper from Caumette et al. (2026), available at: http://dx.doi.org/10.2139/ssrn.5806866, and recoded as Classes 0 to 5 in the paper from Lopez et al.
5. Samples Legend: legend to interpret the ID of individual samples and the acronyms used in the datasets
