Determination of precipitation spacing in Cu-Cr-Zr alloys for fusion applications

DOI

Using small angle neutron scattering, we want to obtain representative measurements of the precipitate spacing in Cu-Cr-Zr alloys with known thermal history, over larger areas than typically probed - millimeters as opposed to hundreds of nanometers. This will allow us to infer microstructural and mechanical properties of larger assemblies containing Cu-Cr-Zr that have undergone more complex heat treatments or have been exposed to service conditions.
