We propose to perform a neutron inelastic scattering study on the anisotropic triangular lattice system beta-NaMnO2. This work will be an extension of our previous study on alpha-NaMnO2 which found one-dimensional fluctuations surprisingly characterised the ground state in this system. Performing the same study on the beta analogue will allow us to determine the effects of bond angles on the exchange pathways and fluctuations. The proposals calls for the use of the MARI chopper instrument successfully used in our previous work.
