Weddell Sea Expedition 2019 ROV dives

DOI

This dataset contains visual observations of benthic habitats and fauna from five Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) dives conducted in the North-West Weddell Sea between 14-23 January 2019. The data were collected using the ROV Lassie during the Weddell Sea Expedition 2019 onboard the R/V SA Agulhas II. The primary biological purpose was to characterise previously ice-covered seafloor following the calving of the Larsen C Ice Shelf. The observations focus on a large aggregation of fish nests attributed to the notothenioid Lindbergichthys nudifrons. These videos contain over 1,000 fish nests, as well as cold-seeps. These data form the basis of the study by Connelly et al., which describes novel nesting patterns and their ecological driver and is currently in review.
