Investigation of temperature damping of the single triplet mode in magnetic field for SrCu2(BO3)2

DOI

This proposal concerns the compound SrCu2(BO3)2, a realization of the Shastry-Sutherland model, which is of particular interest in frustrated quantum magnetism due in particular to frustration driven localization of triplet excitations. The frustration is weakly lifted by an anisotropic Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction. In this case we are interested in the temperature damping of the 3 meV localized single triplet mode under the application of a magnetic field, which splits the triplets. Following a previous study in zero field of ¿the touching triplon model¿ on LET for the temperature damping of the 3meV mode where the excitation line-shape presented both a sharp and a broad component, we wish to to obtain the line-shape of each triplet mode under a 9T magnetic field in the cross-over temperature region (~6-7K). We ask for 8 days of beamtime on LET with a magnet.
