The UK Midlands BAG, comprising researchers from Birmingham, Leicester, Nottingham, and Keele, seeks ESRF beamtime to advance structural biology projects with medical relevance. The consortium involves a wide spectrum of research questions and topics, including RNA helicases and protein–protein interactions for drug discovery, bacterial pathogenesis, mycobacterial cell wall biosynthesis, membrane biogenesis, and DNA damage signaling among others. Apart from X-ray crystallography, the groups use SAXS, neutron reflectometry and NMR to achieve their research goals. In this way, BAG members aim to elucidate molecular mechanisms underlying health and disease, ensuring efficient beamtime use and impactful outcomes.
