Neutron diffraction of amorphous FePO4 and LiFePO4

We are convinced that a careful study of the atomic structure of a-FePO4 would provide very interesting insights into several phosphate systems, including phosphate glass fundamentals, biomineralisation processes, and important technological applications. This includes comparing the structure of a-FePO4 with a-LiFePO4, in connection with the use of FePO4 in Li-ion batteries. The atomic structure of a-FePO4 has not been studied, and there no neutron or X-ray diffraction reported. Such data is essential for developing detailed models of this material.
