Virus discovery and investigations into a possible antiviral small RNA reponse in the Great Pond Snail Lymnaea stagnalis

We use a metagenomic RNA sequencing approach to discover viruses, and test for the presence of an active antiviral RNAi response in both wild-caught and laboratory lines of the model gastropod Lymnaea stagnalis. We carried out total RNA-seq on 3 separate tissue types (liver, foot, and anterior portion) from 309 individuals, and small RNA-seq on pooled RNA from all 3 tissues.
