Double-perovskite iridates attract attention as they combine 5d and 3d magnetism, where spin-orbit coupling plays a significant role in determining a magnetic ground states. Recently, we investigated the double-perovskite compound La2CuIrO6 and demonstrated the presence of a small triclinic distortion of the lattice using neutron diffraction. We also refined the magnetic structure that turned out to be canted AFM with both Cu2+ and Ir4+ ions carry a magnetic moment, which results in 4 magnetic sublattices. Another recently synthesized stoichiometric end-member compound, LaSrCuIrO6 with Ir5+, was reported to possess a higher tetragonal symmetry. The available results suggest that La(2-x)Sr(x)CuIrO6 possess a rich phase diagram with at least two structural phase transitions. The goal of the present proposal is to understand the influence of doping effects on the magnetic structure.
