The dataset is the result of a Köppen-Geiger classification of climate types on high-resolution climate projections across France. The Köppen–Geiger classification is based on mean annual or monthly air temperature and precipitation amounts for 30-year periods from 1970-1999 to 2070-2099. The classification was carried out on 84 bias-corrected climate projections at a resolution of 8 km, including 22, 22, and 40 projections for RCP 2.6, 4.5 and 8.5, respectively.
A more complete description of the dataset as well as an analysis of the evolution of future climate types is presented in Strohmenger et al. (2024).
Please have a look at the README.txt file for information about the files format and about the data fields.
Please note that the following climate projections were subsequently discarded from the Explore2-2022 dataset, for all RCPs (if relevant) and both downscaling methods:
IPSL-CM5A-MR_WRF381P
CNRM-CM5-LR_RACMO22E
EC-EARTH_HIRHAM5
It is therefore recommended to not consider them for any further analysis.
