In-situ hydration and total scattering studies of Ba2In2-xMxO5 (M = Y and Ga) brownmillerites

DOI

This proposal requests 2 days time on POLARIS to complete the initial study (RB 1120314). In particular the focus is on collecting RT total scattering data to clarify the average and local crystal structure of the hydrated phase Ba2In2O4(OD)2 and substituted variants with indium replaced by Ga, Sc and Y. Due to experimental problems linked to high absorption and high background from the new in-situ gas flow cell there was not sufficient time in the original experiment to collect these data. With the data we will be able to resolve details of the oxygen sublattice, probe dopant proton association effects and correlate our findings with the already obtained dry state and in-situ data.
