In our previous experiment (1810419), we have demonstrated that INS spectra of MgCl2-based samples can be successfully recorded at TOSCA Instrument, even in absence of hydrogen atoms, and the results are now in process through DFT calculations, by developing new tools in Crystal17 software. Profiting from that experience, this continuation proposal aims to achieve a deeper understanding of the relationship between the MgCl2 synthetic procedure and its structural and morphological properties. The samples, provided by our Japanese partners at JAIST, will consist of a set able to systematically screen each parameter of the synthesis. These new measurements will be of great interest for the worldwide consortium of petrochemical Companies that is funding our research (the Dutch Polymer Institute), since MgCl2 is a fundamental component of Ziegler-Natta catalysts for olefin polymerization.
