Study of microbial diversity in surface sediment from the East Siberian Sea

The East Siberian Sea (ESS) is one of the shallow Arctic shelf. The distribution of methylmercury in sediment is generally associated with the microbial communities. Therefore, the main goal of our study is to figure out the putative mercury methylating bacteria in the ESS sediment through the correlation of mercury concentrations or environmental variables with microbial communities.
