Das Ziel dieses Projektes ist es, Stand und Verteilung der materiellen Lebensbedingungen sowie Muster der subjektiven Lebensformen und Lebensqualität für die Schweiz im Vergleich zu ausgewählten europäischen Ländern zu untersuchen. Die Idee, Lebensqualität und individuelle Wohlfahrt europaweit zu erforschen, knüpft an eine lange Tradition der internationalen Wohlfahrtsforschung an. Wesentliche Vorbilder für Studien dieser Art sind die skandinavischen Level-of-Living-Surveys, die vor allem auf die "objektiven" Lebensbedingungen und die individuelle Verfügungsgewalt über Ressourcen abzielen, sowie die amerikanischen "Quality-of-Life"-Studien, welche die subjektiv wahrgenommene Lebensqualität in den Mittelpunkt stellen. State of the Art ist nach einigen Kontroversen heute das Kombinieren der beiden Forschungstraditionen. Im Rahmen dieses Forschungsprojektes werden die Daten zu "objektiven" Lebensbedingungen und "subjektivem" Wohlbefinden auf der Grundlage des europaweit vergleichbaren Befragungsmoduls (Euromodule) erhoben. Das Euromodule wurde innerhalb eines europäischen Forschungsnetzwerkes mit Wissenschaftlern aus 19 Nationen konzipiert. Das Befragungsinstrument ist multidimensional angelegt und hat den Anspruch, sämtliche wohlfahrtsrelevanten Lebensbereiche abzudecken. Die Koordinationsaufgaben liegen bei der Abteilung "Sozialberichterstattung und Sozialstrukturanalyse" des Wissenschaftszentrums Berlin (Leitung: Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Zapf). Bis zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt sind die Euromodul-Daten in den folgenden sieben Ländern erhoben worden: Deutschland, Ungarn, Slowenien, Schweden, Spanien, Türkei und Schweiz. Weitere Länder, die eine Teilnahme anstreben, sind: Belgien, Dänemark, Finnland, Frankreich, Grossbritannien, Holland, Norwegen, Österreich, Tschechien, Italien und Polen.
The objective of this study is to analyse state and distribution of "objective" living conditions and patterns of "subjective" living forms and quality of life in Switzerland in comparison with selected European countries. The idea to investigate quality of live and individual welfare across Europe goes back to a long standing tradition of international welfare research. Important models for studies in this field are on the one hand the Scandinavian level-of-living-surveys which are mainly concerned with "objective" living conditions and individual power of control over ressources and on the other hand the Anglo-American quality-of-life-studies which focus on the subjective perception of quality of live. Nowadays, after some controversies, state of the art is to combine the two research traditions. Within the framework of this research project, data on "objective" living conditions and "subjective" well-being are collected on the basis of a Europe-wide comparable survey-module (Euromodule). The Euromodule was conceived within a European research network by scientists of 19 nations. The survey instrument is multidimensional and claims to cover all areas of life that are relevant to general welfare. Data collection in Switzerland was carried out by means of computer-assisted telephone interviews (CATI-method). A representative sample of 1570 persons of the German, the French and the Italian speaking part of Switzerland were interviewed from May - September 2000. First results will be available in spring 2001.
