Evolutionary dynamics of the repeatome explain contrasting differences in genome sizes and hybrid and polyploid origins of grass Loliinae lineages

Low coverage genome skimming data were used to investigate the repeat of representatives of all phylogenetic lineages within Loliinae with the aim of elucidating the potential role of repeats in differences in genome size and in the evolution of both the genomes as well as species.
