Inverted offshore geoelectric data from a surface towed RESECS multi-electrode 200 m long electric streamer in Antalya Bay (Türkiye)

Offshore geoelectric data was acquired using a RESECS multi-electrode measuring system with a 200 m long electric streamer towed behind the vessel Mustafa Reis Finike in the Bay of Antalya. The streamer is pulled behind the vessel at about 20 cm below the water surface with a tail buoy attached to ensure straightness along the electrodes. This allows continuous electrical depth soundings to be measured at 4-second intervals. We surveyed at a speed of about 3 knots, which results in a 6 m spacing between individual measurements. The RESECS submarine dual cable consists of two cable sections with individual current electrode pairs, that are arranged at a distance of 2 m and 32 m respectively. Eight pairs of potential electrodes per cable section, with spacings between 6 m and 200 m, are used to measure 16 inverse Schlumberger configurations simultaneously during one current injection interval. The combination of two electric streamer sections with different electrode configurations permits the determination of the electrical resistivity at shallow as well as greater penetration depths with the highest possible resolution.We acquired 10 profiles along the coast (P1-P10) between the 2023-03-07 and the 2023-03-18.
