The dataset presented comes from an experimental study on the emotional responses of ewes exposed to olfactory stimuli in a positive context. The animals (30 adult Ile-de-France ewes) were divided into three groups based on randomization criteria such as birth weight, birth date, and last recorded weight (Animal_Data file). The animals were born at the UEPAO (Unité Expérimentale de Physiologie Animale de l'Orfrasière, INRAE, Nouzilly, doi:10.15454/1.5573896321728955E12). The study was an individual behavioral test conducted over a 5-minute period, during which each ewe was placed in a experimental setup containing a social resource (four companions) and a food resource (Achin et al. 2025 submitted). The aim of this experimental setup is to create a positive context. The ewes were first exposed to different olfactory stimuli to study their behavioral responses. These stimuli included water (control situation), wolf feces (negative emotional valence), and orange essential oil (positive emotional valence). This first experiment was conducted from January 23 to January 26, 2023. A second experiment aimed to explore the existence of a gradient of negative valences of olfactory stimuli. In this experiment, the animals were exposed to water (control situation), wolf feces, and cadaverine. The second experiment was conducted from February 13 to February 16, 2023. The data includes detailed behavioral measurements, such as the total time spent in the food zone (Food_Zone_TS), the number of eating occurrences (Eat_Total_Occ), the time spent in the social zone (Social_Zone_TS), vocalizations (Voc_Occ), .... recorded during exposure to the different olfactory stimuli. Additional variables, such as food intake, were also measured to assess the behavioral responses of the ewes (Behavioral_Data file). The behaviors were analyzed using video recordings processed with BORIS software.
