Study of structural changes in metal-organic frameworks during and after hydrogen adsorption by diffraction

PID

The goal of the proposed experiment is to study the local structural changes in metal-organic frameworks (class CAU) during and after hydrogen sorption processes. MOFs are known for their structural variability in various dimensions and form, representing a broad field for studying of various applications, particularly gas storage. Proposed CAU compounds are Al-based compounds, synthesized at Christian-Albrechts-Universität in Kiel [1] with pores of different geometries and dimension. Though all metal sites in CAU type MOFs are coordinated, the material CAU-1, for example, exhibits relatively high storage capacities of H2 reaching 4 wt% at a temperature of 70 K.
