This strain is an isolate from the extracellular mucus of an apparently healthy Montipora capitata coral from Moku o Lo'e in Kane'ohe Bay in Oahu, Hawaii, USA. The strain has been used as a negative control bacterium during coral infection trials to define putative pathogens.
